Time at Casas:

As a native Tucsonan, I started attending Casas in 1979 and met my husband Gary Shrader, Casas’ first youth pastor. During this time, I enjoyed being an adult sponsor for choir tours, church camps, youth retreats, and teaching every Sunday in the high school ministry. Later, I joined Gary on Casas’ mission trips to Pakistan, Kenya, Mexico, and Peru, and I went on an all-girls mission trip to Zimbabwe. Roger asked me to join the teaching team for the new member’s class because he wanted to weed out the people who might object to a woman teaching men at Casas. I also started teaching ladies on Wednesday mornings. In the Spring of 1995, God called me to seminary, and in the early 2000s, I began team teaching in one of the ladies’ ABFs, which I still do today. After finishing seminary, I started writing Bible studies for preachitteachit.org. I continue to write for them and serve on their board. After being widowed in 2020, I finished my first book, a devotional on spiritual deserts.
